Our cattle graze on 100% native high pasture grass at 8,000 feet. They drink live water from mountain streams. Our cattle are never administered growth hormones or antibiotics, nor do they spend time in feedlots. When customers purchase Brandon Natural Beef, they can be confident in the source of the beef and how it was processed. Our rancher/partner, Elin Ganschow of Music Meadows Ranch in Westcliffe Colorado personally selects each animal for our grass-fed program. Farm Info: Harvest Hills Farm was established in 2004 on 207 acres of land in Jo Daviess County, Illinois by Drs. Michael and Karen O'Mara. We expanded in 2011 by 48 adjacent acres to 255 acres! The newly added acreage has been cultivated and will be kept as a hay source for wintering our grass fed cattle and --soon to be added-- Katahdin sheep. It's planted in oats, clover, brome and orchard grasses. The farm is a perfect site for grazing cattle with its natural springs, creeks, and gently rolling hills. The cattle primarily feed on native grasses and wild oats which are plentiful on the ranch, and oat hay during the late summer and early winter. No fertilizers or chemicals are used for enhanced growth of this feed. Additionally, throughout the course of their lives, no hormones are given to the cattle. On Zaca Ranch, we run a herd of Black Angus cows and bulls. We are in constant contact with the bovine. Weighing in around 1200 pounds, the steers are used to produce fantastic tasting marbled beef which is processed at a USDA approved facility under the watchful eye of the inspector to ensure that our customers are receiving the best quality beef.
